Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BoutCasts ("BoutCasts", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use boutcasts.com and related services (the "Service").
Information we collect
- Account information: email address, username, birthday (to confirm you're at least 13), and password (stored securely, hashed, via our authentication provider).
- Content you submit: clips, links, titles, descriptions, comments, and other material you post to compete in or comment on bouts.
- Voting and engagement activity: which bouts you vote on, points earned, badges, and challenges you send or receive.
- Payment information: if you sponsor a category, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number — Stripe handles and stores that directly.
- Wallet activity: your BoutBucks balance and history.
- Usage data: pages visited, device/browser type, and similar technical information collected automatically. We use privacy-friendly analytics that don't use advertising cookies.
- Guest voting: if you vote without an account, we keep a random identifier in your browser and a one-way hash of your IP address so each guest gets one vote per day. We don't store your raw IP address with your vote.
- Optional Live Vote survey: some organizers ask voters an optional question about age range, gender, or race/ethnicity. Answering is voluntary. Organizers only see combined totals, never who answered what.
- Push notifications: if you turn them on, we store your browser's push subscription so we can send you alerts. You can turn them off at any time in your browser settings.
How we use your information
- To operate the Service — running bouts, tallying votes, tracking points/badges, and resolving challenges.
- To process payments and sponsorship billing.
- To moderate submitted content and enforce our Terms of Service.
- To communicate with you about your account, submissions, or support requests.
- To improve the Service and understand how it's used.
Sharing your information
We share information with service providers who help us run BoutCasts — currently Supabase (database, authentication, and storage), Vercel (hosting and site analytics) and Stripe (payment processing). We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of BoutCasts, our users, or others.
Your choices
You can update your profile from your account, and you can permanently delete your account yourself at any time from Settings & safety (see how to delete your account), or by emailing support@boutcasts.com. Deleting your account removes your profile and activity; records of payments are kept without your name for accounting. Aggregate vote totals in past results do not change.
Children's privacy
BoutCasts is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date.
